What it is

The feast, briefly

A great feast that is also a fast day — the one time the two meet. We honor the Cross not as an instrument of death but as the tree of life, lifted up in the middle of the church for veneration, often wreathed in basil.

The full feast-preparation guide — how to carry the fast into the feast, what to bring, what to expect at the service — is written out in the Vigil app. These pages give the date and a short note; the app gives the whole guide.
